Materials

• (1) Board approx. 10" long × 3.5"–5" wide
• Wood glue
• Sandpaper (120–220 grit)
• Finish of choice (oil, poly, wax)

Base:
• 6" × 3.5" (or match your board width)
Support Piece:
• 4" × 3.5"
• Optional: 10–15° back angle for improved viewing
Phone Slot:
• Width: ⅜"–½"
• Depth: ¼"–⅜"
• Angle: 10° for optimal viewing

Tools Needed

• Table saw or miter saw
• Drill or router (for slot cleanup)
• Sanding block or sander
• Square + pencil
• Clamps (optional)

Finished Dimensions

The completed stand measures approximately 6" × 3.5" × 4" and supports most phones and tablets in both portrait and landscape orientation.
The angled slot provides a comfortable viewing angle for desks, nightstands, and workbenches.

Step‑By‑Step Instructions

Step 1: Cut the Base

Cut the base to 6" long.
Ensure the edges are square and the surface is flat — this is what keeps the stand stable.

Step 2: Cut the Support

Cut the support piece to 4".
Optionally cut a 10–15° angle on the bottom so the phone leans back naturally.

Step 3: Cut the Phone Slot

Cut a slot approximately:
• ⅜"–½" wide
• ¼"–⅜" deep
• 10° angle for better viewing
Clean up the slot with a chisel, router, or sandpaper.

Step 4: Sand & Finish

Sand all surfaces to 220 grit.
Break all edges lightly for comfort.
Apply your preferred finish — oil, wax, or polyurethane all work well
