π§ Assembly Steps
-
1
Cut to Length
Cut all pieces per the cut list. Label each part with painter's tape β especially slats vs. rails.
-
2
Sand All Faces
Sand all faces β 120 grit first, finish with 220. Break all edges lightly.
-
3
Attach Front & Back Rails to Legs
Fasten front and back rails to legs at 3 heights: 2″ from bottom, ~15″ center, ~28″ top. Use wood glue + 1¼″ pocket screws.
-
4
Attach Side Rails
Connect front and back rails with side rails running front-to-back at each shelf level. Glue and screw into place.
-
5
Lay Shelf Slats
Place 1×2 slats front-to-back across the front and back rails. Space evenly ~¼″ apart across the full 24″ width. Fasten each slat with 1¼″ screws or finish nails.
-
6
Check for Square & Apply Finish
Use a speed square at each corner. Once confirmed square, apply stain, penetrating oil, or polyurethane β 2–3 coats with light sanding between each.
