Before assembly, cut a 10" x 2" notch in the top edge of the front panel. Sand edges smooth to a 1/4" radius.
Attach panels to corner posts using pocket holes or countersunk woodscrews. Ensure the box is perfectly square to allow the lid to seat properly.
Use a non-toxic, water-based finish. Since this will be in a child's room, a high-quality milk paint or water-based poly is recommended.
