II. Assembly Sequence

Step 1: Precision Circles

Cut your hardwood blanks into circles. Use a router jig for the 18" top and 12" base. Sand the edges through 220 grit while the pieces are still on the jig for perfect symmetry.

Step 2: The Access Hole

Mark the mounting holes of your hardware onto the 12" base. Drill one 1/2" hole through the base at one of these marks. This allows you to screw the hardware to the top disc later.

Step 3: Hardware Mounting

Center the hardware on the base and screw it in. Flip it over, align it with the top disc, and use your access hole to drive the remaining screws into the underside of the 18" turntable.

Step 4: Food-Safe Finish

Apply a mineral oil and beeswax finish. This allows the Lazy Susan to be used for cheese boards or charcuterie while protecting the hardwood grain.
